A
Message from the President:
Hello
and welcome to Eastlake Derry and Associates, LLC (ED&A). We
are here to assist your business, association, or program with its
accessibility needs and to help you achieve full compliance with the
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
ED&A
is
in a unique position to provide you with cutting edge information,
facilities assessments, and trainings. While there is currently
no legal certification for accessibility compliance inspections and
consultations, we are experienced in providing interpretations of the
ADA (and it's implementing regulations) on behalf of the federal
government, and as nationally-known presenters on accessibility.
Spending
Power of Americans with Disabilities
The
large and growing market of
people with disabilities controls $175 billion in discretionary
spending,
according to the U.S. Department of Labor. $175 billion is almost two
times the spending power of teens and more than 17 times the spending
power of tweens (8-12 year-olds), two demographics sought after by
businesses.
An Open Doors Organization study estimated in 2003 that diners with
disabilities would spend $35 billion in restaurants that year. The
study found that more than 75% of people with disabilities eat out at
restaurants at least once a week.
According
to the Government Accounting Office, hotels and motels that made
accessibility improvements experienced a 12% increase in business.
The
general public supports the goals of the ADA by a margin of more than
ten to one and accessibility features benefit many people including a
growing elderly population.
ED&A
Staff
Members
of our staff have been trained and receive regular updates on the ADA
through the U.S. Department of Justice, and the U.S. Architectural and
Transportation Barriers Compliance Board, also called the Access Board.
Several of our staff also have experience working for the
Disability and Business Technical Assistance Centers (DBTACs), and
ED&A currently provides training and technical assistance under
contract for the DBTAC: Mid-Atlantic ADA Center serving the Washington,
DC
region.
We are here to help you meet all your accessibility needs. Please check out our site and let us know how we can be of service to you.
Sincerely,
Mark
